A fight between two intoxicated brothers led to the arrest of one of the men for Battery last Thursday.
The suspect, 31-year-old Matthew Foote of Gulf Breeze, was arrested following the investigation at 5:34 a.m. that day and booked into Santa Rosa County Jail.
According to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, the victim in the case called law enforcement alleging his brother, Foote, had assaulted him.
When a deputy arrived, he spoke with Foote who admitted to being highly intoxicated. He told the deputy that the two had been drinking all day and that his brother, the victim, often entices him to fight. Foote said that when the two do eventually fight, his brother always calls the sheriff’s office on him.
The deputy noted in the report that Foote had an injury on his right hand that was still bleeding.
The deputy later spoke to the victim who alleged his brother had a “mental illness” and that he even killed the family dog back in 2010.
The victim stated Foote entered the his room and tried to entice him to fight. The victim stated he tried to avoid Foote, but he kept following him around the house. The victim alleged that the suspect punched him in the nose, causing it to bleed. The victim stated Foote then put him in a choke hold, which made it hard for him to breathe. He stated he eventually got away from his brother and called law enforcement.
When the deputy spoke with Foote again, he called his brother a “bitch”. Foote was eventually arrested following the investigation.
