Gulf Breeze Police Report: Feb. 21 – Feb. 27, 2017

Gulf Breeze Police stayed busy this week working DUI’s and thefts across Gulf Breeze Proper.

Tuesday, Feb. 21

At the Exxon Gas Station, a report of a suspicious person led to the arrest of that person for Carrying a Concealed Weapon. Police ultimately arrested the 26-year-old Orlando man, Nicholas Brown at 10:03 a.m. after the complaint.
At Gulf Breeze Elementary School, there was a report of a stolen bicycle, which had been left on campus over the weekend.

Wednesday, Feb. 22

At the 200 block of Dolphin Street, there was a report of a vehicle burglary.
At the Exxon Gas Station, there was a report of a theft of a wallet, which was left in the gas station’s bathroom.
Also on Wednesday, on the Pensacola Bay Bridge, police pulled over a motorist for speeding at 8:56 p.m. The stop ultimately led to the arrest (Notice to appear) of a Pensacola man on drug charges. The suspect, James Batchelor, 31, was charged with Possession of Marijuana (Under 20 Grams) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The man was given the notice and sent on his way.

Friday, Feb. 24

At Shoreline Park, there was a report of a stolen boat trailer tag.
At the 1800 block of U.S. Highway 98, a traffic stop for suspicion of DUI, ultimately led to the arrest of the Navarre driver for DUI at 7:05 p.m. The driver, 31-year-old Jeffrey Weiland, was booked into Santa Rosa County Jail following the stop.
Also on Friday, in the Whataburger Drive-thru, there was a report of a male driver passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle. The Texas man, Nicholas Vazzana, 33, was ultimately arrested for DUI when police responded.

Saturday, Feb. 25

At the 300 block of Washington Avenue, there was a report of Criminal Mischief.

Sunday, Feb. 26

At the 1100 block of Hwy. 98, a traffic stop for suspicion of DUI at 8:35 p.m. ultimately led to the arrest of the driver of the vehicle for DUI. The Pensacola man, Coleman Baker, 23, was arrested for the DUI without incident.
Also on Sunday, a call regarding suspicious activity at the 50 block of Hwy. 98 at 8:36 p.m. led to the arrest of a Pensacola woman for DUI. Police responded to the complaint and apprehended Dana Dugas, 29 and charged her with DUI, Disorderly Intoxication and a Moving Traffic Violation. She was later booked into Santa Rosa County Jail.
On State Road 399, a traffic stop for speeding at 11:55 p.m. led to the arrest of the driver and the passenger of the vehicle on several charges. The driver, Brooke Shippitka, 21, of Navarre, was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Marijuana (Under 20 Grams) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The passenger of the vehicle, Katrina Martinez, 31, also of Navarre, was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance Without a Prescription, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Marijuana (Under 20 Grams) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

This past week, Gulf Breeze Police dispatch had a total of 495 calls. Gulf Breeze Police officers made a total of 119 traffic stops. Fifty-five of those resulted in citations, while the other 64 resulted in warnings.
There was one wreck with injury reported in Gulf Breeze Proper last week.
