Man with active warrant wanted in Navarre shooting

Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a Navarre man who is believed to have been involved in a late Thursday night shooting that hospitalized a local. 

The shooting occurred yesterday at around 11:30 p.m. at the 2700 block of Shoreview Court in Navarre. The initial 9-1-1 call alerted deputies that an individual at that residence had been shot and was in need of medical assistance. 

Upon law enforcement’s arrival, it was determined an adult male had been shot and had suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound.  That individual was transported via Lifeguard Air Ambulance 1 to an unknown local hospital to be treated for the injury. The victim is currently in stable condition at that hospital according to local law enforcement.   

Local law enforcement is not identifying the victim in the case at this time. 

SRCSO Major Crimes detectives along with Crime Scene Units responded to the investigation following word of the shooting and are currently still investigating the matter. 

Deputies with the local sheriff’s office are currently searching for a suspect who they believed was involved in the incident. That person of interest is Cody James Gomez, 20. The man is 6″2′ tall and weighs approximately 155 pounds. SRCSO Public Information Officer Sgt. Rich Aloy said that Gomez currently has a separate active felony warrant for his arrest involving a separate matter. Gomez has a last known address at the 2100 block of Villa Court in Navarre.

According to the Santa Rosa County Jail View website, Gomez has four prior arrests in Santa Rosa County spanning back to December 2015
