Verina “Lynn” Glossop
1965 – 2017

Verina “Lynn” Glossop, 51, of Bennettsville, S.C. passed away on March 18, 2017 with her loved ones by her side at the University of Florida Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fla. after a brief illness.
Lynn was born on September 18, 1965 in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. to Javannah Gunn and Glenda Gunn. She attended Fort Walton Beach High School.
She lived most of her life in Navarre, Fla., but in recent years was living in Bennettsville, S.C. to be near Jamie’s family.
She loved her family and friends. She was kind and sweet and would do anything to help the people she loved. She was a wonderful friend and her friends feel truly blessed to have had her in their lives. She touched their hearts and they loved her. A truly beautiful woman, inside and out, was lost the day she left this earth. She will be missed dearly.
Lynn would have rather been fishing than doing anything else except for spending time with her granddaughter who she absolutely adored.
She worked at the East River Smokehouse for Sam “Scooter” Taylor. She ran the beverage cart at Hidden Creek Golf Course in Navarre and also worked at the Holley-Navarre Elks Lodge #2787. She met a lot of people through these jobs, so she knew most everyone in Navarre and they knew her. Lynn was a lot of fun to be around. She always had a smile for you and a joke to tell you.
Lynn is survived by her fiancée James Steen, Jr. of Bennettsville, S.C., her son Thomas Glossop and his girlfriend Stephanie and granddaughter Sophia all of Navarre. She is also survived by her mother, Glenda Bowman, of Sarasota, Fla.; sister and brother-in-law Theresa and Mark Smith of Baker, Fla; brother and sister-in-law Javannah Jr. and Cynthia Gunn of Sarasota, Fla.; Aunt Ruth David of Navarre, Fla; stepmother Peggy Cagle; stepbrothers Bobby and Lee Turner and Tony Spear all of Navarre, Fla. along with cousins, nieces and nephews.
She also leaves behind her extended family from South Carolina who always treated her like one of their own: Sherry and Richard Arnold, James Steen, Sr., Ida Mae Clark, Michelle and Jody Flowers and their children, and April and Autumn Jacobs.
Lynn was preceded in death by her father Javannah Gunn, Sr. of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; brothers Kevin Bowman and Jeffrey Bowman of Sarasota, Fla; Uncle Richard Davis of Navarre, Fla.; and stepfather James Bowman of Sarasota, Fla.
A memorial has been planned for Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the Holley-Navarre Elks Lodge #2787 at 2002 Elks Way, Navarre, Fla. 32566. The family will received guests from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Lynn’s brother, Junior, will begin the service at 2 p.m. Everyone who knew Lynn are welcome to attend.
Interment will be at the Holley Point Cemetery where her ashes will be buried next to her Uncle Richard as were her wishes. This will be done in a private service for her family.
While flowers are welcome, donations to the Holley-Navarre Elks Lodge #2787 in Lynn’s name would be greatly appreciated to help with the work they do in the local community for children, veterans and the disabled. Donations can be mailed to: Holley-Navarre Elks Lodge #2787, P.O. Box 5387, Navarre, FL 32566-0387.
