NAS Whiting Field today announced that Commander, Navy Region Southeast has ordered the increase of security measures at all its activities across the southeastern portion of the United States.

“The increased security posture is part of the Citadel Shield/Solid Curtain (CS/SC) exercise being performed at Navy installations across the country. CS/SC is an important annual exercise designed to ensure peak readiness of our security forces and ensure our ability to deter and respond to potential security threats,” stated the media release. “Due to CS/SC exercises that are underway, personnel, families, and contract personnel with base access are encouraged to allow for additional transit time to come aboard or depart the installation. We ask that everyone plan accordingly, follow the directions of local law enforcement and security personnel, and please drive safely.”

Base officials say it is Navy policy not to discuss specifics of protective measures “in order to safeguard processes and procedures that enhance security; therefore, specific information of that nature will not be released.”
