Posted on September 9, 2020 by Staff reports

The Santa Rosa County Housing Department has been awarded $1.6 million in Coronavirus Relief Funds from the Florida Housing Finance Corporation for mortgage/rent/utility assistance for residents who have been negatively impacted by COVID-19.

The funding will be used to provide financial assistance to eligible Santa Rosa County homeowners/renters who are currently unemployed or underemployed as a result of COVID-19. The funding will assist residents who have fallen past due with mortgage, rent, and/or utility payments and/or are in jeopardy of future payment delinquency due to lost or diminished income.

Assistance will be provided in the form of a grant to be paid directly to the service provider. The amount of assistance provided will be determined by each household’s current need to maintain the housing unit through the end of the funding period.

Applications are now being accepted. For more information, email Housing@santarosa.fl.gov.

There will also be a presentation on upcoming CARES Act assistance programs at the Thurs., Sept. 10 commission meeting. As a reminder, all BOCC meetings are available for livestream from any desktop or mobile device.”Santa Rosa County wants to make sure that if residents experience hardship due to the pandemic, they can receive some form of assistance,” said Grants and RESTORE Program Manager – Naisy Dolar. “This presentation will give needed information about Santa Rosa County CARES Human Service programs including where to go for assistance and eligibility criteria.”
