7th Generation Santa Rosan Pre-files for School Board Race

Oscar Locklin, a 7th generation Santa Rosa County native and great nephew of former late Superintendent of Schools Radford Locklin pre-filed for Santa Rosa County School Board, District 2 on August 24, 2023.

Locklin, who describes himself as a Conservative and life-long Republican, is challenging incumbent Elizabeth Hewey, who is affiliated with the Democratic Party. Fellow Republican Jennifer Tapley of Milton has also pre-filed for the race.

“Santa Rosa County is one of the most conservative Counties in the State of Florida. The people of Santa Rosa County deserve a Board Member who will push the recent years’ DeSantis and Republican education legislative agenda,” said Locklin. “Santa Rosa County should be leading the way in implementing conservative, family values and common sense. We need to hold the line against the outside influences seeking to destroy our society through influence on our children.”

Locklin is a practicing real estate and probate attorney in Milton and Pace since 2005. He is a graduate of Pace High School, Harding University, and Florida State University College of Law.

Locklin is a life-long member of Margaret Street church of Christ in Milton and currently Jay church of Christ, where he has served as Bible class teacher, fill-in preacher, and Deacon. Locklin has formerly served 2 years as a member and Chairman of the Jay High School -School Advisory Council. He is currently serving as President of Royals Basketball Boosters, Inc.; Secretary of Jay Area Recreation Association, Inc., and a Board Member of Gulf Coast Bible Camp, Inc. in Lucedale, MS. Mr. Locklin has coached baseball, basketball, softball and Teeball at times during the last decade.

Oscar and his wife, Sheena, are raising four daughters, Darcy – 16, Hattie – 15, Lucy – 13 and Annie – 11, who attend Santa Rosa District Schools.
