The Santa Rosa County zoning board on July 9 will discuss a request by Forest Bay Estates, LLC to rezone existing Single Family Residential property to a proposed Highway Commercial Development and to allow the development of 96 townhouses.

The site is located north of U.S. 98 and west of Reserve Boulevard in the Midway just west of Navarre.

Forest Bay Estates, LLC on August 20, 2018 acquired more than 225 acres for $2.65 million then on October 3, 2019 sold a 210-acre parcel of that land to Forestar USA Real Estate Group, a residential development company and subsidiary of D.R. Horton Home, which bills itself as “America’s largest new home builder by volume.”

Forest Bay Estates retained three small parcels fronting U.S. 98 and is now seeking to change the zoning from Single Family Residential to Highway Commercial District to allow for the development of 96 townhomes.
