After the rescue effort to locate missing Hurlburt Airman Sergeant Cole Condiff was called off, the military began a recovery mission, and Robert Reyes, owner of Stripes Pub & Grill in Navarre, stepped up to feed those involved.
Reyes, a veteran who maintains close connections with the local military community, said he knew someone involved in the effort and offered support by providing meals.
It’s not something new to Reyes, each year he and his staff host a Community Thanksgiving Dinner.
Reyes his event crew, which includes volunteers, invite any first responder on duty, anyone who can’t afford a meal, anyone who doesn’t have a place to go or family to be with or “anyone” in general.
“There is no cost at all,” said Stripes Pub & Grill Manager Tara DeSousa, who said donations are welcome and received from local families and businesses.
This year the dinner will take place from 12-3 p.m. on Thursday, November 28. Volunteers will be working from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. to make sure everyone gets served.
“Any monies raised that day are donated locally to a charity of Rob’s choice,” said DeSousa. “This year will be for the Santa Rosa Kids House.”
