Santa Rosa County Commissioners during today’s board meeting approved two measures to help small businesses with less than 20 employees during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, including $60,000 in emergency grants.
Santa Rosa taxpayers on their utility bills are charged an electronic franchise fee, which is paid to the county. A certain portion of those fees can be used for economic development, and the board this morning approved using $60,000 toward that end.
District 5 Commissioner Lane Lynchard said the move was aimed to help small businesses during this difficult time.
Additionally, the board voted to approve $40,000 in facade improvement grants.
