The Deputy City Manager for the City of Gulf Breeze who ditched the bitter Illinois cold for warmer weather is expected to hang up his hat in November.
Curt Carver came aboard with the city to assist City Manager Edwin “Buz” Eddy with day-to-day operations back in 2014.
Eddy’s assistant came to the area from outside of Chicago with his late wife. With him, he brought 30 years of city management experience.
The 60-year-old formally announced his retirement on Monday to staff.
A nationwide search for a Deputy City Manager to replace Carver started Thursday morning, according to Eddy.
Eddy said that the new Deputy City Manager can expect to bring home an annual salary of $80,000 to $90,000.
“Right now, under the present time table, we’re (advertising the position) in both state and national publications geared towards city managers,” Carver told South Santa Rosa News “Buz will take applications until April 29 and they will continue with the selection process from there.”
Carver said the city is hopeful to bring someone on board sometime in June and Carver will work with the new recruit until his retirement.
Carver said he plans to do a lot of traveling once he retires at the age of 61.
“This has been a great experience. We have incredibly talented staff, very dedicated public officials and they have an excellent city manager,” Carver said. “It’s been a pleasure to work here and a privilege.”
