Navarre Youth Sports Association (NYSA) will work closely with Gulf Coast Foster Bridge to provide sports scholarships for foster families in the Navarre area. NYSA believes that all children can benefit from the lessons learned and friendships made while participating in team sports. Therefore, they wish to ease the financial burden of foster families wanting to take part in NYSA programs.
There are an average of 100 kids in foster care in Santa Rosa County and many foster families have multiple children in their care, making it difficult for these families to afford program fees. NYSA wants to help bridge that gap.
Tiger Point Sports Association was the first local organization to adopt this program and NYSA will follow suit beginning with their spring sports’ registrations. The registration process will be simplified for these families with an online questionnaire. Additionally, the foster family participants will be provided with early access to the park’s equipment swaps to help offset the costs of equipment. NYSA is dedicated to bettering the lives of all the boys and girls in Navarre.
NYSA is a non-profit membership-based organization, and they are seeking both corporate and personal donations to fund this initiative. They are excited to help the local foster family community but will need financial assistance to provide these families with the best experience possible. If anyone is interested in helping to sponsor this program, they are asked to contact Chrissy Flanigan at president@nysasports.com.
