Precinct Results Show South County Supported Incumbent Commissioners

Precinct results from the Santa Rosa County Supervisor of Elections reveal that South County voters in the Aug. 20 primary supported the incumbent county commissioners. Although District 5 Commissioner Colten Wright was re-elected by a double-digit margin, his fellow incumbents, District 1 Commissioner Sam Parker and District 3 Commissioner James Calkins, were defeated due to opposition in North County.

“I’m honored to have the support of the voters and the opportunity to serve another four years,” Wright told South Santa Rosa News after winning. “I’m thankful to see that a majority of residents saw through the constant attacks and barrage of lies hurled towards me. There’s a great opportunity for the (Board of County Commissioners) to use common sense and create innovative policies to move Santa Rosa County forward in a responsible way, and I’m up for the challenge. The future is bright for our community.”

The District 1 primary was won by Bobby Burkett, and Rhett Rowell won the District 3 primary due to support from North County voters, although Rowell also won Navarre Beach, Oriole Beach and Gulf Breeze Proper.
