Women in Science Conference September 17

The Emerald Coast Science Center’s Eighth Annual Women in Science Conference is coming up on September 17, 2024, at The Place on Beal in Fort Walton Beach.

Pursuing a degree and an occupation in STEM career fields can open countless doors for a lifetime. At the Women in Science Conference, our goal is to inspire the next generation of female scientists, engineers, doctors, and more. Young women will have the opportunity to hear from women in professional STEM fields right here in Okaloosa County, as they enlighten our audience about their careers and deliver advice. This is an excellent event for students of all ages and genders to receive firsthand advice and information from local STEM professionals. This event is presented by Emerald Coast Science Center and BAE Systems.

WHAT:

The Eighth Annual Women in Science Conference is a celebration of women in all STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) professions. The evening will consist of inspirational presentations from professional women in STEM careers. All ages are welcome, especially middle school and high school students looking to discover careers in STEM. Guests will have a chance to mingle with the speakers and other guest professionals, and all speakers will be a part of an open panel Q&A session for audience members to ask questions. Light refreshments provided.

This year’s speakers include Stacia Hurt, Senior Principal Systems Engineer II, BAE Systems, Kristen Shell, Deputy City Manager, City of Niceville, Dr. Amanda Davis, Owner and Family Nurse Practitioner, SANE.Medical LLC, Natalie Sullivan, Technical Director and Microbiologist, Analytical Services Corp, Allison Beauregard Schwartz, Director of the Office of Undergraduate Research, University of West Florida, and Cheylin Woodruff, Marine Biology student, University of West Florida.
