Paul Dewayne Brown, 44, of the 2400 block of Amberjack Court in Navarre, was booked yesterday into Santa Rosa County Jail on charges stemming from a September 1 multi-vehicle crash on Navarre Beach Bridge.
Brown is facing two first-degree misdemeanor charges: DUI with damage to property or person of another and reckless driving with damage to person or property.
The incident occurred around 9:50 p.m., when Brown’s Dodge Ram truck was traveling northbound on Navarre Beach Bridge. Witnesses said it was traveling at a high rate of speed, per FHP.
Near the top of the bridge, Brown’s Dodge collided with a Dodge Challenger, which was also traveling northbound in front of it. The driver of the Challenger sustained serious injuries.
Then Brown’s truck had a head-on collision with a Ford Fusion, which was traveling southbound on the bridge. The driver of the Fusion sustained minor injuries.
Brown continued driving northbound and had another head-on collision with a Chevy Silverado. The driver of the Silverado sustained minor injuries.
Brown’s truck ended up overturned near the north end of the bridge. He sustained minor injuries as a result of the multiple crashes. He was arrested after being released from the hospital, according to FHP.
