Jimmy Patronis, President-elect Donald J. Trump’s hand-picked replacement for Florida’s 1st Congressional District seat. will face off against 9 other Republicans in the Jan. 28 GOP primary election.
“The unelected bureaucrats who targeted gun owners, Christians, and Trump supports are going to have a day of reckoning,” stated Patronis, who is the frontrunner in the race after being the only candidate endorsed by Trump.
The qualifying period has ended, and the following Republicans will appear on that Jan. 28 Republican primary ballot:
- Dimmock, Aaron (landslide loss to Gaetz in Aug. 20 primary)
- Gaffney, Kevin (teacher at Rocky Bayou Christian School)
- Macey, Jeff (resident of Ft. Walton Beach)
- Merk, Greg (former military pilot who lost twice to Gaetz)
- Mills, John (Navarre resident who lost twice to Gaetz and once to Florida Sen. Doug Broxson)
- Patronis, Jimmy (former Chief Financial Officer for State of Florida)
- Peacock, Jeff (teacher at Navarre High School)
- Rudman, Joel (quit his job as House District 3 Representative to run for higher office)
- Thompson, Michael Dylan (youngest candidate in the race at 25 years of age)
- Valentino, Gene (former Escambia County Commissioner – lost re-election in 2014)
The Republican primary winner will face off April 1 against Democrat Gay Valimont, Gay, NPA Stephen Broden and four write-in candidates: Dembinsky, Richard Paul; Gray, Stanley; Green, Jonathan; and McDaniels, Stan.
