Visitors nabbed for burglary on Navarre Beach

Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s deputies apprehended nearly half a dozen Tennesseans over the weekend that were allegedly burglarizing vehicles on Navarre Beach.

Matthew Holt, 18, John Holt Sr., 48, Brittany Brown, 22, Celesse “Cecil” Oliver, 19, and Kelsey “Ethan” Walters, 18, were all apprehended and charged with Burglary, Larceny and Possession of Burglary Tools. Matthew Holt was additionally charged with Drug Equipment Possession and Oliver was charged additionally with Resisting an Officer.
According to the SRSO arrest report, a man called 9-1-1 after he returned to his vehicle Sunday night and noticed it had been burglarized near the 8700 block of Gulf Boulevard. The victim stated he left his vehicle at that parking lot and walked down to a bar. When he returned to his vehicle, he noticed it had been broken into and several things were missing, including a pair of Ray Ban prescription sunglasses and a Costa sunglasses case. The report indicated that the victim’s vehicle was locked when it was broken into.
Before calling 9-1-1, the individual stated he saw 5 people standing near a vehicle that was parked near his and asked them if they had seen the incident transpire. Two of the individuals, Matthew and John Holt, told the victim that their vehicle had been broken into as well.

The victim called 9-1-1 and noticed that the five individuals dispersed after hearing the victim on the phone with dispatch. The victim alerted dispatch that the group had split up and that he thought they were the culprits.
A deputy was able to pick up Walters, Matthew Holt, Oliver and Brown, who were spotted walking down Gulf Boulevard. John Holt was later picked up at an undisclosed location and brought back to the crime scene.
Deputies eventually got consent to search the Tennesseans’ vehicle and located the victim’s stolen sunglasses case, but not the prescription sunglasses. Deputies also located pliers

and other miscellaneous burglary tools inside of the vehicle.
The only suspects who decided to speak to deputies about the incident were Oliver, Brown and Walters.
Oliver told deputies that Walter broke into the victim’s vehicle using needle nose pliers, which were subsequently located inside of the suspects’ vehicle.
Oliver also claimed Walter had broken into a red pickup truck earlier and that nothing was taken from the vehicle.
Walters claimed she was sleeping in the vehicle and was awoken at one point that night by the other suspects. Walters claimed she saw Oliver break into the victim’s vehicle. Walters denied breaking into any vehicles.
Fingerprints were taken from the victim’s vehicle and collected for evidence.
