Gulf Power is taking required steps toward increasing customer prices.
In an August 16 press release the utility announced it notified the Florida Public Service Commission that it may seek a hike approval to raise the base rates for electricity.
““As we continue to secure future energy needs for our customers, we have to make sure our systems are resilient so that we can continue to deliver safe, clean and reliable energy and continue to meet the energy needs of our customers today, tomorrow and into the future,” Stan Connally, Gulf Power Chairman, President & CEO, stated in the release.
Specifics about the proposed increase were not provided, but a detailed rate proposal is expected later this year.
The FPSC will hold a hearing for a proposed increase and, if approved, the increase would go into effect in summer 2017.
