The City of Gulf Breeze is looking to boost the local economy by aligning alcohol sales start hours with the unincorporated parts of Santa Rosa County.
At Thursday night’s Executive Committee meeting, city council was expected to discuss the issue, which is expected to be brought forward for the first reading on August 1 and approved or denied by council on August 15.
The ordinance (07-16) is proposing moving alcohol sales times from 8 a.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday to 7 a.m. to midnight, which would align alcohol sales times with the rest of the unincorporated parts of the county.
The Ordinance is also proposing moving alcohol sales hours from noon to midnight on Sunday to 7 a.m. to midnight.
Alcohol sales on Friday could also be extended from 7 a.m. Friday to 1 a.m. Saturday. And on Saturday, sales could be extended from 7 a.m. Saturday to 1 a.m. on Sunday instead of the 8 a.m. to midnight Saturday schedule that is currently in place.
