The City of Gulf Breeze held its first reading at Monday’s City Council meeting on their proposal to extend alcohol sales within the city limits to line the times up with the unincorporated parts of Santa Rosa County.
The issue was met with little discussion at the Monday night meeting and expected to be approved or denied by council on August 15.
The ordinance (07-16) is proposing moving alcohol sales times from 8 a.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday to 7 a.m. to midnight, which would align alcohol sales times with the rest of the unincorporated parts of the county.
The ordinance is also proposing moving alcohol sales hours from noon to midnight on Sunday to 7 a.m. to midnight.
Alcohol sales on Friday could also be extended from 7 a.m. Friday to 1 a.m. Saturday. And on Saturday, sales could be extended from 7 a.m. Saturday to 1 a.m. on Sunday instead of the 8 a.m. to midnight Saturday schedule that is currently in place.
