Another major development headed to Navarre

On the heels of news that development of a $55-million dollar commercial retail center adjacent to Publix in Navarre is underway, Santa Rosa County District 4 Commissioner Rob Williamson during today’s Navarre Area Board of Realtors’ monthly luncheon announced another large parcel of land is under contract and planned for major development.

The roughly 19-acre parcel currently under contract for purchase is located on U.S. 98 and adjacent to Culver’s restaurant off Ortega Street, where a traffic signal study is already underway.

Williamson would not disclose specific plans for the property. But sources close to the project say there could be restaurant(s) and retail shops associated with it.

“It’s not low-income housing,” Williamson said, pointing out that a previously planned low-income housing project eyed for the parcel had attracted heated criticism from the community.

According to Williamson, the planned development is more aligned with what Navarre residents have expressed as desires for the community.

Additionally, Williamson during the luncheon encouraged participation in the District 4 Master Plan survey via http://www.plan4district4.com.
