Body washes ashore on Navarre Beach

Chief Mike Howard of Navarre Beach Fire Rescue has confirmed that a body washed up on the shore of the Gulf of Mexico this evening.

Howard was unable to say whether or not it was that of a local swimmer who was reported missing Tuesday evening. But Howard did say the identification process was underway.

Throughout the day on Wednesday, the U.S. Coast Guard and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission crews, along with NBFR, searched the coastline for a missing white Caucasian male who went out for his daily swim Tuesday but never returned.

Wednesday night investigators from Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office were on scene where the body washed ashore.

More detail will be posted as they become available.
