Child seriously injured in Monday wreck on U.S. 98

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a Monday morning accident on U.S. 98 at Sunrise Drive in Navarre.

Per FHP, at approximately 10:28 a.m, a black 2011 Dodge Charger driven by Amanda Burrell, 50, of Navarre, was traveling westbound on US 98 in the left turn lane at Sunrise Drive, attempting to make a U-turn.

As the Charger started to make it the u-turn, the left side of the vehicle was hit by the front of a red 2002 Chevy Camaro which was traveling in the outside eastbound lane of US 98.

The Camaro was being driven by 35-year-old Ashley Rose Hoffman of Gulf Breeze. Her 7-year-old son was a passenger in the vehicle and transported to Studer Family Children’s Hospital.

According to the police report, Burrell was transported to Fort Walton Hospital by EMS. Amanda Hoffman was transported to Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital. 

Burrell was charged with failure to yield/stop at an intersection, per FHP.
