The City of Gulf Breeze Mayor and Council in partnership with the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) invites City residents to an August 25 Black Bear Town Hall Meeting.

Dave Telesco, FWC Bear Program Coordinator, and Kathrine McCart, Northwest FL Area Bear Biologist, will discuss bear behavior, biology, and community interactions.

The FWC has two programs that deal exclusively with bears: the Bear Management Program (BMP) and the Bear Research Program (BRP). Both programs work closely together and assist each other when needed. The BMP is in the FWC’s Imperiled Species Management Section of the Division of Habitat and Species Conservation. The BMP focuses heavily on taking actions to avoid and respond to human-bear conflicts. State Senator Doug Broxson and State Representative Alex Andrade, plus one or more Santa Rosa County Commissioners and City of Gulf Breeze Council Members may be in attendance.

The meeting will take place at 6 p.m., Wednesday, August 25 at Gulf Breeze Community Center, located at 800 Shoreline Drive in Gulf Breeze.
