A new drive-thru coffee shop is planned for the southwest corner of U.S. 98 and Navarre Sound Circle (which located just under one mile east of Navarre Beach Bridge)
A 20-foot by 30-foot building is planned to be constructed on the roughly 1/3-acre parcel, which was purchased for $150,000 in February by Deb’s Coffee Drive-Thru, LLC.
Presently there is an existing Deb’s Coffee Drive-Thru on the north side of U.S. 98 less than one mile east of the new site to which the business will relocate.
The business sought three variances from the county zoning board on September 13 to accommodate the future coffee shop:
- to reduce the front setback from 50 feet to 40 feet to accommodate a coffee shop
- to reduce the corner clearance requirement for a driveway entrance from 120 feet to 80 feet at the intersection of US Highway 98 and Navarre by the Sound Circle
- to reduce landscape buffer āCā requirement from 20 feet to 10 feet along the rear of the property. The above requests are to accommodate a coffee shop.
According to Santa Rosa County Planning and Zoning Director Shawn Ward, the variance to reduce the front set back was approved. However the zoning board denied the other requests, pointing out the request to reduce the corner clearance requirement posed a potential public safety concern.
Owners say that barring any unforeseen events they hope to open their new doors in February.
