Santa Rosa County tourism revenues continue to climb, setting a new record of $3.9 million for the 2018-2019 fiscal year, which ended September 30.

The new high surpasses last year’s revenues, which topped $3 million for the first time ever.

“We have been very aggressive the last two years in our advertising and marketing efforts to specific demographics and markets in the Southeast,” said Santa Rosa County Tourist Development Director Julie White.

White said travelers are changing their habits of how they pick destinations. “Specifically the millennials, so it is our responsibility to recognize this,” she said, pointing out that information technology is a focus “to put our best foot forward right now for sustainability, which is key to keeping our destination pristine.”

Additionally, TravelLemming.com recently announced Navarre Beach as one of the top 30 emerging destination for 2020. Navarre Beach was ranked 25 after the Santa Rosa County Tourism Development Council made the nomination.

Other destinations included in the worldwide rankings were McLaren Vale, South Australia and Laurel Highlands, Pennsylvania.
