Holiday Closures
Libraries will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, December 24 and 25 in observance of the Christmas holiday.

Family Story Hour 
“Book a Trip” with Family Story Hour! Join us as we journey to all seven continents. There will be stories, activities, and more related to each destination on our trip. This month we will explore Europe. Come each month to receive a stamp in your Family Story Hour passport. Family Story Hour will be presented during the following times this month:

  • 4 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 3 at the Navarre Library
  • 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7 at the Milton Library
  • 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8 at the Gulf Breeze Library
  • 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11 at the Jay Library
  • 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 18 at the Pace Library

Saturday With Santa

  • Dec. 8, 10 a.m. at the Gulf Breeze, Jay, and Pace Libraries
  • Dec. 15, 10 a.m. at the Milton and Navarre Libraries

Santa will take a break from his preparations at the North Pole to visit Santa Rosa County Libraries. You’ll be treated to a Christmas story, festive snacks, and a gift from Santa. Please bring your camera if you would like a picture taken with Santa. All ages are welcome! Special thanks to area Friends of the Library for sponsoring this spectacular visit.
 
Preschool Storytime
Storytime programs are presented for preschool children ages three through five and include stories, finger plays and action rhymes. Caregivers must remain in the library during storytime; however, they cannot accompany children into the programs. Programs start promptly at the assigned times; latecomers are not admitted.

First timer? Visit the library to meet the storytime presenter, pick up a welcome packet, explore the children’s area, and enjoy a tour of the library.
 
Storytime will be presented during the following times through Dec. 7:

  • 11 – 11:30 a.m. on Mondays at the Jay Library
  • 11 – 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays at the Navarre & Milton Libraries
  • 11 – 11:30 a.m. on Fridays at the Gulf Breeze & Pace Libraries

Visit the library to read with Gabby the therapy dog! Space is limited; registration is required. Speak with a staff member to sign up.
 
Refreshing Reads Book Club – Jay Library – 5259 Booker Ln.
Dec. 4, 3 p.m.

Enjoy an uplifting book club where one can talk about books in a spirit of fun and sharing. Refreshing Reads meets the first Tuesday of every month at the Jay Library. See a staff person to sign up. This month choose one of our Christmas cookbooks and bake one of the Christmas treats in them to share at the meeting.

The Illustriates Graphic Novel Book Club – Navarre Library – 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.
Dec. 5, 4 p.m.
Sixth through 12th graders can join fellow graphic novel enthusiasts to discuss the book of the month. Members can suggest reading ideas, interests, and discuss the world of the graphic novel. This month’s selection is “Estranged” by Ethan Aldridge. Speak with a staff member to sign up.
 
Book Chat – Pace Library – 4750 Pace Patriot Blvd.
Dec. 5, 4 p.m.  
One of the next best things to reading a good book is chatting about it. Join the conversation at the Pace Library on the first Wednesday of every month at 4 p.m. This month’s selection is “The Widows of Malabar Hill” by Sujata Massey. Registration is required.
 
For the Win! Games Day – Milton Library – 5541 Alabama St.
Dec. 8, 9 a.m.
Enjoy playing games? Join us for game day at the Milton Library. You can bring your own games from home or play those provided by us. There will also be an on-going Dungeons & Dragons campaign. This event is open to all ages, and game groups are welcome.
 
Friends of the Navarre Library Board Meeting – 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.
Dec. 10, 10 a.m.

Dec. 11, 5 p.m.
Sixth through 10th graders are invited to share their ideas about the book of the month. The Inklings Book Club meets the second Tuesday of the month at 5 p.m. at the Milton Library. This month we will have a “book tasting” featuring “Forest of Hands and Teeth” by Carrie Ryan, among others. Speak with a staff member to register.

The fiction book club meets at 1 p.m. on the second Friday of every other month for a brown bag lunch and book discussion. This month’s selection is “An American Marriage” by Tayari Jones. There is a limit of 20 participants, so call or visit the library to sign up.
 
Friends of the Gulf Breeze Library Fall Book Sale – 1060 Shoreline Dr.
Dec. 14, 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. and Dec. 15, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Join the Friends of the Gulf Breeze Library for their book sale in the Gulf Breeze Library meeting room. There is something for everyone, so check us out. This event is open to the public. Support your local Friends group!
 
Family Movie Mondays – Navarre Library – 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.
Dec. 17, 3 p.m.

Family movies will be shown the third Monday of every month at 3 p.m. Join us this month as we watch the adventures of a boy and his sister as they set out to recover their new puppy after their father’s girlfriend steals it (rated PG). Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Navarre Library.

Enjoy playing games? Bring games from home or play those provided by the library. All ages and game groups are welcome.
 
AniManga Club – Gulf Breeze Library – 1060 Shoreline Dr.
Dec. 18, 4 p.m.
Visit the Gulf Breeze Library on the third Tuesday of each month to learn and share graphic art skills in a fun environment. The AniManga Club is dedicated to the enjoyment and promotion of animation, cartooning, and related arts. The club is open to youth ages 11 – 17.
 
Third Thursdays with Your County Master Gardener – Navarre Library – 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.
Dec. 20, 11 a.m.

The county master gardeners will present a monthly series on a variety of interesting topics with solutions for your gardening life. This month’s topic, “Pruning,” will be presented by Mike Burba.
 
Christmas Movie Madness – Navarre Library – 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.
Dec. 21, 3 p.m.

Celebrate the first afternoon of Christmas break with a movie at the Navarre Library. Join us as we watch Jack Skellington’s attempts to bring Christmas to Halloween Town (rated PG). Costumes are encouraged. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Navarre Library.
