First tropical system could develop early next week

The National Hurricane Center is watching the Atlantic for formation of a low pressure system which could develop into a tropical or subtropical cyclone early next week.

An area of low pressure is expected to form several hundred miles south or southwest of Bermuda late this weekend or early next week, according to the NHC.

Gradual development into a tropical or subtropical cyclone could take place early next week, per NHC, which reports the system is expected to move northward or northeastward.

Formation chance through 48 hours is low – near 0 percent.

Formation chance through 5 days remains low – at 30 percent.
