The Gulf Breeze JV lacrosse team proved that it doesn’t take experience to win a game after they pummeled the West Florida Jaguars Varsity team last Thursday night with an impressive 10-1 win.
The game was the first official match of the girls’ regular season, and West Florida almost went scoreless, but a goal by Cassandra Kelso with three minutes left in the game put the one point on the board for the Jaguars.
In the first, Ashley Sekul secured the first goal for the Dolphins, followed by a goal by Daley Ostrander halfway through the first half.
Isabell Miller followed up with a goal allowing the Dolphins to secure a 3-0 lead.
With 10 minutes left in the first half, Katelyn Stahl scored a goal, followed by a set of attempts by Isabel Miller who missed three shots around the 9 minute mark. But her teammate Stall had her back, and pummeled the Jaguar defense to put another point on the board with 3:45 left in the first half.
Miller finished out the first half with a goal at the 2 minute mark, and one with less than 2 seconds left in the half which buffed out the Dolphins lead leaving them 7-0 over West Florida at the end of the first half.
The Jaguars made sure to be on the prowl more in the second, allowing the Dolphins to only score 3 points total. The first was made by Landrie Jenning halfway through the second half, and that was followed up by a shot from Julia Wassner with 11:25 left in the half making the score 9-0.
The Dolphins rallied up enough energy to get one more point on the board by the end of the half, but Jaguar Kelso put one on the board for West Florida with 2:30 left in the game ending the game 10-1.
