Gulf Breeze man sentenced to 75 years in prison for child sex abuse

State Attorney Bill Eddins announced that Jason Traffanstead, age 41 of Gulf Breeze, was sentenced today by Circuit Judge John Simon.  

Traffanstead was convicted by a Santa Rosa Jury on January 22, 2018, to two counts of Engaging in an Act Which Constitutes Sexual Battery Upon or With a Child 12 Years of age or Older but Younger than 18 Years of Age by Person in Familial or Custodial Authority and on one count of Lewd or Lascivious Molestation. 

Traffenstead was sentenced to 30 years consecutive on each count of Engaging in an Act Which Constitutes Sexual Battery Upon or With a Child 12 Years of age or Older But Younger Than 18 Years of Age by Person in Familial or Custodial Authority, and to 15 years consecutive on Count 3 of Lewd or Lascivious Molestation, for a total of 75 years in state prison.  He must serve at least 85% of his 75 year sentence before he is eligible for release.

Traffanstead committed these crimes upon the victim between May 9, 2014 and March 31, 2016 at their home in Gulf Breeze.  In March 2016 the victim disclosed the abuse while living in a foster home which resulted in the matter being investigated by the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office.
