With Spring Break in full swing, Gulf Breeze Police officers had their hand full with calls in Gulf Breeze Proper over the past week.
Tuesday, Feb. 28
At the 100 block of U.S. Highway 98, a traffic stop for a seatbelt violation led to the arrest (Notice to Appear) of the vehicle’s operator for Possession of Marijuana (Under 20 Grams) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The driver, Taylor Arnett, 23, of Gulf Breeze, was given the notice at 8:40 a.m. and sent on his way.
At the Walmart Neighborhood Market, there was a report of a grant theft of grocery items. The victim who called in the complaint refused to work with investigators and the case was dismissed.
Police conducted a warrant service at 1:46 p.m. and arrested 32-year-old Gulf Breeze man Logan Schoonmaker at the 1100 block of Hwy. 98.
At the Quality Inn, there was a report of a theft of $100 from one of the rooms.
Also on Tuesday, GBPD conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on the Pensacola Bay Bridge for speeding. The stop ultimately led to the arrest of both the driver and passenger on several drug charges and a weapons violation. The driver, Jasamine Smith, 28, of Mississippi, was arrested for Carrying a Concealed Firearm, Cocaine Possession, Possession of Marijuana (Under 20 Grams) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The passenger, Laterria Beal, 22, also of Mississippi, was arrested for Carrying a Concealed Firearm, Cocaine Possession, Possession of Marijuana (Under 20 Grams) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Wednesday, March 1
At the 2500 block of Hwy. 98, a traffic stop for suspicion of DUI at 1:02 p.m. led to the arrest of the driver of the vehicle for DUI and a child cruelty charge. The Pensacola woman, Michelle Martin, was subsequently arrested and charged with DUI, Leaving the Scene of a Crash and Cruelty Towards a Child.
In Harbourtown, there was a report of harassing phone calls.
Also on Wednesday, at the 200 block of Florida Avenue, there was a report of a disturbance.
Friday, March 3
At the 100 block of Hwy. 98, a traffic stop for a seatbelt violation ultimately led to the arrest of the Milton driver for an outstanding warrant. The 26-year-old, Samantha Jackson, was arrested for the warrant at 10:07 a.m.
Saturday, March 4
At the 50 block of Hwy. 98, a traffic stop for speeding led to the arrest of the driver for a Moving Traffic Violation and for Obstructing Police. The Pensacola man, Juan Jones, 22, was subsequently booked into Santa Rosa County Jail and charged with Driving With a Suspended License and Obstruction by Disguise at 9:29 p.m.
Sunday, March 5
On the Pensacola Bay Bridge, a traffic stop for suspicion of DUI led to the arrest of the driver, Harrell Brown, for Driving With a Suspended License. The 39-year-old Broward man was arrested without incident at 2:19 a.m.
Also on Sunday, at the 400 block of Hwy. 98, a traffic stop at 2:56 p.m. on a vehicle ultimately led to the arrest (Notice to Appear) of a Pensacola woman on a drug charge. The suspect, Kaitlynn Simpson, 19, was ultimately charged with Possession of Marijuana (Under 20 Grams) and sent on her way.
On the Pensacola Bay Bridge, a traffic stop for speeding at 7:45 p.m. led to the arrest of the Gulf Breeze driver for DUI and two other charges. The man, Vance White, was subsequently charged with DUI, Refusal to Submit and Violation of Driver License Restrictions.
This past week, Gulf Breeze Police had a total of 481 calls come into their dispatch.
There were 146 total traffic stops made by officers this week. Fifty-nine of those stops resulted in citations, while the other 87 resulted in warnings.
There was one reported wreck with injury this past week in Gulf Breeze proper and 7 total wrecks without injury reported.
There were no hit and runs reported in the city limits last week.
