HGTV’s “Dream Home” Show to Spotlight $5M Lottery Scratch-off Ticket Winner from Milton

Back in February the Florida Lottery announced Bernard Waters, a 63-year-old Army veteran who lives in Milton, had claimed a $5 million prize on a scratch-off ticket. Now HGTV “Dream Home” is featuring his family’s hunt for their dream home.

In season 16 episide 10 of “Dream Home,” Host David Bromstand profiles the Waters. The Episode will be broadcast on HGTV at the following times:

  • 8 p.m. Friday, June 28
  • 11 pm, Saturday, June 29
  • 7:30 pm, Monday, July 1
  • 3:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 2

The promo for the episode states, “Gold star do-gooders who have struggled financially scratch up a $5 million win, and they barely know what to do with it! David steps in to make sure they spend some money on themselves and help find their dream home in Pensacola, Florida.”

Waters actually chose a one-time, lump-sum payment of $3,994,698. He purchased the winning ticket from S Food Mart Three, LLC, located at 6025 Stewart Street in Milton. The store received a $10,000 bonus commission for selling the $20 Monopoly Doubler scratch-off ticket.
