A Gulf Breeze man was placed under arrest last Wednesday and charged with felony reckless driving and felony hit-and-run after he rear-ended a Gulf Breeze teenager on July 31, seriously injuring him.
Florida Highway patrol arrested the suspect, William Ernest Himes, after receiving a tip regarding the suspect by an unknown individual.
Thomas Sutton was driving down U.S. Highway 98 at around 2:51 p.m. that Sunday near the New Hope Road intersection when Himes rear ended the teen’s minivan, causing the van to flip.
Himes immediately left the scene in his red GMC pickup.
Damage noted on Himes’ truck coincided with the accidents that occurred weeks earlier.
Himes remains behind bars at Santa Rosa County Jail with a $20,000 bond.
