Hwy. 87 Expands Shopping Options

Posted on November 30, 2020 by Staff reports

Now called “Highway 87 Marketplace,” the shops in Sand Dollar Plaza have joined with Pik-Itz to create a great open air market for shopping local.

“It has become a unique place for weekly as well as holiday shopping. Having it here in Navarre is exciting especially given the state of our bridges,” said Carolyn Williams of Sand Dollar Cottage.

Open on the first and thirds Saturdays of each month from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., the rapidly expanding market has booths showcasing local artists and artisans as well as local independent businesses.

Items available include foods, such as jams and jellies, locally grown mushrooms, vegetables and sweet treats. There are also booths with original art, crocheted items, candles and jewelry. Unique items made from wood, old pianos, shells and painted palm fronds are a specialty.

While many venues in the area are temporarily closed to these artists and vendors, Highway 87 Marketplace offers a site that respects COVID-19 guidelines and provides fresh-air shopping in socially distant booths with encouraged mask wearing when needed.

Space is available for more vendors. Registration must be made the week before each event.
