Navarre’s largest beach department store, Island Style, is expanding their location by 40 percent, adding an additional 2,000 square feet of retail space plus full- and part-time job opportunities.

“This is creating 20 new jobs.” said Mario Roberts, hiring manager and co-owner of the locally owned business. “We are presently interviewing for 10 full-time and 10 part-time positions.”

According to Roberts, the full-time positions offer paid vacation, retirement benefits and a medical plan.

“We are proud that we are able to offer benefits to our full-time staff,” he said. “It is almost unheard of in the resort retail industry.”

Owner Jeff Elbert said the expansion is a “dream come true” for his family.

“We have been a family owned retail business in the local area for over 38 years and are so thankful for our continued success. We pride ourselves on being a part of the community. This expansion will enable us to increase our offerings to both locals and visitors,” Elbert said.

Some of the expanding inventory include brands such as Salt Life, Life Is Good and Comfort Colors.

“We are also increasing our line of beach supplies”, said Elbert. “Locals have come to learn that we offer the best value in the area for beach chairs, body boards and various types of seasonal merchandise. We keep our prices low so that our customers come back”

The expansion is scheduled for completion in May, just in time for the summer season.
