Rhett Rowell, a fourth-generation Santa Rosa County resident and Conservative Republican prefiled Monday for Santa Rosa County Commission District 3.
Rowell will face off against incumbent James Calkins and Jerry Couey, who prefiled October 28, 2022.
Rowell is a graduate of Jay High School and the University of West Florida. He has taught American Government and Economics at his alma mater Jay High since 2007. Additionally, Rowell has coached the following sports at Jay: football, basketball, baseball, track, weightlifting, and golf.
“Santa Rosa County is the best county in the state of Florida. District 3 deserves a Commissioner who knows and is deeply rooted in the area. Santa Rosa County needs a Commissioner who can properly represent the rural community while balancing the needs of the other regions in the County,” Rowell said.
Rhett and his wife, Lana, have been married for 18 years and have two children, Major, 15, and Piper, 12. They are members of First Baptist Church of Brewton.
