Judge sentences four to prison for attack on corrections officers in Milton

State Attorney Bill Eddins announced today that Judge John Simon sentenced Dukene Myrtil, Andre Williams, Markus Vincent and Johnslow Sauveur to the maximum sentence they could each receive, stemming from an attack on correctional officers that occurred at the Santa Rosa Correctional Institution on January 1, 2018.

Each defendant was convicted on October 11, 2018 of multiple charges following a jury trial.

Dukene Myrtil was sentenced as a habitual felony offender and as a prison releasee reoffender to life in prison with a 30 year mandatory minimum, consecutive to all other sentences now serving. He is already serving a life sentence in another case.

Andre Williams was sentenced as a habitual felony offender and as a prison releasee reoffender to life in prison with a 30 year mandatory minimum, consecutive to all other sentences now serving. He was previously scheduled to be released from Department of Corrections in 2038.

Markus Vincent was sentenced to 10 years state prison, consecutive to all other sentences now serving. He was previously scheduled to be released from Department of Corrections in 2026.

Johnslow Sauveur was sentenced to 5 years in state prison, consecutive to all other sentences now being served. He was previously scheduled to be released from Department of Corrections in 2021.
