LIES, LIES, LIES: Santa Rosa REC Member Spreads False Information about GOP Official

It’s hard to remember back when the Santa Rosa County Republican Executive Committee was a respected organization under the prudent, wise leadership of former Chairwoman Mary Golden. Since that time, Sharon Regan took over as chairwoman, and the group has become infested with wannabes – many of whom failed in their efforts to win an elected office. Now the REC members seem to spend what’s left of their years hating on winners or, in some cases, spreading outright lies about fellow Republicans.

Some failed candidates for office who have been part of the REC in recent years include:

  • Pam Mitchell (lost a 2018 Milton City Council race)
  • Wes Siler (lost Navarre incorporation effort and two attempts to get on the Holley-Navarre Water System board)
  • Ginger Pace (lost race for Clerk of Court)
  • Cindy Smith (lost race for Florida House District 3)
  • Angie Straugn (lost school board race)
  • Helen Spears (quit Clerk of Court race)
  • Cindy Hall (lost Supervisor of Elections race)
  • Patty Burke (lost Gulf Breeze mayoral race)

Egregious behavior by REC members has led to one well-respected local leader referring to the group as the “Congress of Unelectables.”

Sherry Chapman today has been adding to the group’s bad reputation by spreading a blatant lie on social media about a Republican legislator. She’s been sharing a post which claims Florida House District 3 Representative Nathan Boyles has hired former Santa Rosa County Commissioner Sam Parker as his “Chief of Staff.”  <<<<< THAT IS A COMPLETE LIE!

So I texted Chapman to make her aware it was false information she was sharing about our local Republican leader.

“Prove it,” she said.

But when provided with the names of the three current staff members (two existing staffers, Ally and Ashley, who were kept on and one new legislative aide, Noah), Chapman refused to back down, stating “We tried to verify.”

Well, information should be verified BEFORE sharing, not afterwards.

Within seconds of texting him about Sherry’s assertion, Boyles replied, stating “That is specifically not true.”

Chapman didn’t care. She just doubled down, stating, “I will share if I want.”

Ok, well, South Santa Rosa News and Milton Post will expose how Sherry is lying against a duly elected GOP official.

Chapman’s behavior isn’t too much of a surprise, considering REC members were seen campaigning during the 2024 election cycle for NPA Kim Kline, who failed in her effort to unseat Florida House District 2 Rep. Alex Andrade, a registered Republican. Despite opposition from within the disgraced REC, Andrade easily won re-election, earning 67.5% of Santa Rosa’s votes.
