“You Call the Shots (Lemon Drop),” the latest single from Santa Rosa County’s own country music sensation Austin Forman, was released today and is already climbing the charts.

Forman, whose career took off in 2020, is currrently in the #26 spot on the iTunes download list for country and #79 overall.

His ranking is likely to rise further after the single’s video is released on YouTube tonight at 8 p.m. and debuts Monday on The Country Network.

“This project has been such an incredible journey between recording the song and shooting an incredible music video at the ‘Nashville Palace,” said Forman, who described the tune as a “summertime anthem.”

Navarre Songwriter Bobby Wayne Walkup co-wrote the new song. “I’ve written a lot of songs but as soon as we got done writing this one I knew it was special,” Bobby said.

Joining Walkup on the songwriting team were his father, Robert Wayne Walkup, and Ted Hewitt, a country music producer and songwriter who has worked with Reba McEntire, Rodney Atkins and other stars.

According to Robert, he and Bobby were in Nashville a few years back and started working on the song in Hewitt’s office. “The first time we heard Austin Forman sing, we knew this song would be perfect for him. I’ve very thankful and excited for Austin, and the release of this song and fantastic video,” Robert said.

The video for “You Call The Shots (Lemon Drop)” will go live on YouTube tonight at 8 p.m. After that time, you’ll be able to watch it via this link:
