Santa Rosa County officials are working to address a large political sign which was illegal erected  on county property by the re-elect Don Salter for County Commission District 3 campaign.

County Administrator Dan Schebler on Monday stated he was contacting the county’s code enforcement department for action on the matter.

Schebler had previously addressed illegally placed signs, noting they would be removed and that repeat violators could face fines.

The sign was placed on the north side of U.S. 90 at Locklin Park in East Milton.

“Perhaps, if commissioner Don Salter spent as much time resolving Santa Rosa county issues, especially during these tough times, as he does putting up his campaign signs on the taxpayer-owned properties we would be in a much better place,” stated Milton businessman Stephen L. Jernigan.

Monday afternoon Salter responded to a request for a comment about the issue. “It was placed there by one of my supporters. It has been removed,” he said.
