Makayla B. Charles is a wife, a mother of five, and a proud Milton resident who has called this community home for over 10 years.
She’s a practicing legal assistant, and a licensed cosmetologist – so she knows the value of hard work and understands how local government affects everyday families. That’s why she’s running for City Council – to make sure Milton stays a safe, welcoming place for families like her own.
Makayla is committed to managing the city’s growth responsibly, keeping every neighborhood secure, and investing in the parks and programs that help families thrive. Makayla will bring common sense, a heart for service, and a fresh perspective to City Hall.
“I am asking for your vote to keep Milton safe, welcoming, and family friendly for generations to come,” she said. “I bring real-world work experience to the table. As a licensed cosmetologist, I spent years building relationships and running my own business. I learned the value of hard work, financial management, small-business grit, and treating every person who walks through the door with respect. I also served members and their families during my employment at Navy Federal Credit Union, where I helped others manage their finances. Today I work as a legal assistant. That position has helped me gain firsthand insight into how laws, procedures, and local government affect everyday people.”
Makayla says she is ready to bring energy, common sense and a heart for service to City Hall.
“As a mother, I understand firsthand what families need to thrive: safe neighborhoods, well-maintained roads and parks, and a local government that plans thoughtfully for the future without losing the small-town character that makes Milton feel like home.
I’ve watched our city grow and change. I believe that we can welcome our new residents, show them our southern hospitality,
and still maintain our downhome charm,” she said, adding, “I am committed to putting families first. My priorities include managing Milton’s growth responsibly so that infrastructure keeps pace with new development, strengthening public
safety so every neighborhood feels secure, and expanding the parks, programs, and opportunities that give children and families a
reason to put down roots.Through years of involvement in our community, I have seen the strength of Milton’s people up close.”
