Mardi gras

The Krewe of Jesters’ 30th Annual Navarre Beach Mardi Gras Parade will kick off at 1 p.m. this Saturday on Navarre Beach. This year’s theme is “Movies from 1986.” The parade takes place on Gulf Boulevard, starting at Arkansas Street and ending at Navarre Beach Marine Park. Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office will close Navarre Beach Bridge to non-emergency traffic around 12:30 p.m. and reopen it around 2:30 p.m. The forecast is mostly sunny so tens of thousands of spectators are expected. Organizers suggest arriving early and bringing refreshments and chairs or blankets. Food vendors will be available.
Other local Mardi Gras parades include: Kids and Kritters parade at Pensacola Beach at 2 p.m., Jan. 30; Main Street Milton Mardi Gras Parade at 6 p.m., Feb. 4; Krewe of Lafitte Illuminated Parade in downtown Pensacola 7:30 p.m., Feb. 5; Pensacola Grand Parade at 2 p.m., Feb. 6; Destin Mardi Gras Parade at Harborwalk Village at 2 p.m., Feb. 6; and Krewe of Wrecks Parade on Pensacola Beach at 2 p.m., Feb. 7.
