State Attorney Ginger Bowden Madden announces that on October 1, 2021, Circuit Court Judge Darlene Dickey sentenced Demetrius Rashad Mason to a mandatory life sentence as a Prison Releasee Reoffender. The Defendant was also designated as a sexual predator.
On July 16, 2021, the Defendant was convicted by a jury in Santa Rosa, Florida of Sexual Battery (Force Likely to Cause Serious Personal Injury) and Domestic Battery by Strangulation.
On April 19, 2019, the Defendant broke into the victim’s home, physically attacked her, strangled her, and sexually battered her.
Prosecuting attorney, Mrs. Kari L. Garrett stated, “The Defendant has an extensive criminal history, including multiple convictions for violent crimes. As a result of the sentence imposed in this case, the Defendant will never perpetrate violence on another member of our community.”
