The United Sprint Car Series “Battle at the Beach” two-day event kicked off February 23 with a full racing card, including qualifying Heats and Main Events for all divisions.

The event was headlined both nights by the nationally touring United Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters Winged Outlaw Sprint Cars.

Tony Stewart, three-time Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Champion and car owner was at Southern Raceway for the event. Stewart was competing in the K&N Filters Racing Series in his #14 Winged Sprints Car.

On Friday evening he was able to pilot his machine to a 7th place finish on a tricky, Southern Raceway surface.

On Saturday evening with close racing wheel-to-wheel Tony was caught up in a late race caution, forcing him to start at the tail end of the field. On the restart Tony was able to charge back up to 12th, but fell back to 17th on the final lap.
