The Navarre Garden Club held a special Arbor Day ceremony at the Holley Ball Park on Friday, Jan. 20 to pay tribute to a much loved Navarre resident who recently passed away. The group invited County Commissioner Rob Williamson to help plant the tree and the group dedicated the tree in memory of Shirley Lee Brown, a long-time resident of Navarre who was very involved in the local community.
Williamson announced earlier this month that the county was also planning to add Shirley’s name to a strip of U.S. Highway 98 previously designated the Warren E. “Charlie” Brown Memorial Highway, in honor of her late husband.
