A Navarre man was killed on Esplanade Street in Navarre late Wednesday night when a woman pulled out of a driveway and struck the man with her vehicle.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol accident report, Trena Strong, 49, of Navarre was backing out of a driveway at a residence at the 1900 block of Esplanade Street at 10:16 p.m. After she backed out onto Esplanade Street, she put her vehicle in drive and accelerated forward. When she did, the Navarre resident failed to see Timothy Peters, 46, walking in the roadway and struck the man, according to the accident report.
The report does not indicate whether Peters was run over with the vehicle or not.
Peters was immediately transported to Baptist Hospital in Pensacola where he succumbed to his injuries.
According to the accident report, charges are still pending on Strong from the deadly accident.
The accident was not alcohol related, according to the FHP report.
