A story published Feb. 13, 2025 by Navarre Press contains false information about South Santa Rosa News Owner & Publisher Romi White. A correction has been requested.
The story titled “Proxy problem: Lynchard files complaint with Water System board” states:
“Candidates for board seats reported a proxy circulating that did not come from (Holley-Navarre Water System). In fact, it was reported the person pushing the referenced proxy, Romi White, was in the parking lot of St. Sylvester Catholic Church following Mass trying to get signatures with a proxy that had her name filled in as the appointed proxy holder.”
White’s response:
“Navarre Press did a very sloppy job on this story. Sandi Kemp and Gail Acosta should be ashamed. Navarre Press didn’t bother contacting me to ask if the hearsay, which they chose to publish in the story, was true or not. Repeating unverified hearsay like that, especially about your competitor, in my opinion, makes Navarre Press more of a malicious gossip rag than a credible news source.
No, I was certainly not at St. Sylvester Catholic Church following Mass ‘trying to get signatures with a proxy.’
Additionally, I have not printed any proxies with my name on them, although I was presented some and would be more than happy to serve in that role for utility members who want to entrust their vote(s) to me, considering the HNWS Attorney advised they are legal and multiple pro-incorporation candidates attempting to get on that board – the latter is the last thing Navarre needs.”
Sandi Kemp was contacted and asked to correct Navarre Press’ story.
