Navarre Rotary awards scholarships

Last Friday, Rotary Club of Navarre hosted their 2016 Navarre High School scholarship winners and families at Hidden Creek Golf Course in Navarre.
Rotary Club of Navarre awarded eleven $1,000 college scholarships to eligible 2016 Navarre High School seniors. This is the largest amount awarded in the history of the Rotary Club of Navarre and was $5,000 more than last year. Rotary raises funds for their scholarships at their annual Pancake Breakfast each fall along with fundraisers throughout the year.
Six of the scholarships were awarded to the outstanding cadets of the NHS NJROTC program. Those cadets were Carina Porcaro, Brandon Moncibias, Austin Corkren, Jada Murphy, Cory Payne and John McGowan.
One was awarded to Lydia Kim as the most outstanding student who is a member of the NHS Interact Club and 3were awarded to outstanding students Ian McCullough, Laurel Emerson and Kaitlyn Baldridge.
The newest Rotary Scholarship, The Pat Quinn Veterinary Science Scholarship was awarded to Olivia Brahms, a NHS senior who is pursuing a career in Veterinary or Animal Sciences.
In addition to the winners, Santa Rosa School Superintendent Tim Wyrosdick and Principal Noack attended along with Interact Club Faculty Adviser Jennifer Joyner.
