Locals Tommy Wiser, Jr. and Gary Brewer excelled at a recent Powerlifting Competition in Alabama.
Wiser placed 3rd in the Men’s Open in his weight category at the USA Powerlifting Border Bash in Phenix City, Ala., while Brewer placed 2nd in the Men’s Open in his weight category during the competition.
Wiser was able to deadlift 628.9 pounds and squatted 578 pounds at the competition. He also benched 385 pounds.
Brewer qualified for nationals thanks to his placement at the competition and Wiser is expected to qualify on October 1 at a United States Powerlifting Association Competition at The Bar Gym in Milton.
