This Labor Day weekend will be a memorable one for the Gulf Coast as OWA hosts its second annual Labor Day Car Show, as well as free fireworks display, the addition of a live band, and fun festivities starting Saturday, August 31, 2019.
“This is the second year we are partnering with Foley First Baptist Church Missions Program to produce the ever expanding OWA Labor Day Car Show once again,” said Kristin Hellmich, OWA’s Director of Marketing/PR. “With a variety of show room quality vehicles lining the beautiful streets of Downtown OWA, this event is sure to bring excitement and surprises.”
More than 100 vehicles and their owners will line the streets of admission free Downtown OWA from 8am-4pm on Saturday, August 31 to show off the works of art. From antiques to hot rods, all cars are welcome, and judging will start at 9am. There will be a trophy presentation at 3pm for categories including Pastor’s Choice, OWA Choice, Best of Show, Best Rat Rod and many more. The event is free and open to the public.
Following the car show, OWA’s Island Amphitheater will be ready to jam-out with a free, live concert from 7:30-10:30pm Saturday night. Tap your toes to the infectious sounds of The Essentials—a 10-piece soul band based out of New Orleans, La as you celebrate the weekend.
Saturday night will also feature another epic fireworks display at 8:45pm. You can enjoy this view from several restaurants’ outdoor patios, OWA’s front entrance, OWA’s island, or inside The Park at OWA.
If you can’t make Saturday, the rest of Labor Day Weekend has plenty to offer because The Park at OWA will be open Friday-Monday. Guests will have plenty of time to catch all the thrills on more than 21 rides, including the newest addition Mystic Mansion. Park goers can enjoy a variety of family activities such as American flag T-shirt painting, kids’ crafts and more.
Labor Day Car Show, fireworks spectacular, the Essentials live concert, and Downtown OWA activities are all free for the public to enjoy. More information plus schedule of events can be found at VisitOWA.com.
